Measure & Fittting Guides

Measure & Fittting Guides

Below is the updated measuring guide in millimetres (mm), with an added note in Step 3 reminding customers that they can include any special instructions or details in the checkout notes.

How to Measure Your Windows for Blinds (in mm)

When placing your order, you’ll see Measure Type options:

Recess Size (Inside Mount) – for blinds fitted within the window recess.

Actual Blind Size (Outside Mount) – for blinds that cover the window, often overlapping beyond the recess.

Recess Size (Inside Mount)

  1. Check the Depth
    • Ensure the window recess is deep enough to accommodate the blind.
    • Different blind types may require different minimum depths; refer to the product details or contact us if unsure.
  2. Measure the Recess Width
    • Measure inside the recess at the top, middle, and bottom.
    • Note the smallest width in mm.
  3. Measure the Recess Drop
    • Measure from the inside top of the recess to the windowsill (or bottom of the recess) at the left, centre, and right.
    • Note the smallest drop in mm.
  4. Select “Recess Size” on the Product Page
    • Enter the smallest width (mm) and the largest drop (mm).
    • We’ll make any necessary small deductions to ensure the blind fits perfectly within the recess.

Actual Blind Size (Outside Mount)

  1. Decide on the Coverage
    • Determine how much you want the blind to extend beyond the window recess on each side (commonly 15 mm – 30 mm on each side).
    • Overlapping helps block more light and enhances privacy.
  2. Measure the Full Width
    • Measure the total width you want the blind to cover, including overlap.
    • Record this width in mm.
  3. Measure the Full Drop
    • Measure from the top where the headrail will be mounted (above the recess) down to where you want the blind to end, including overlap.
    • Record this drop in mm.
  4. Select “Actual Blind Size” on the Product Page
    • Enter the total width and drop (mm).
    • We will manufacture the blind to these exact dimensions.

3. Double-Check, Label & Add Notes

  • Double-check all your measurements.
  • If you have additional instructions or special considerations, please include them in the “Additional Notes” section at checkout.

4. Helpful Tips

  • Use a steel tape measure for accuracy.
  • Measure to the nearest millimetre.
  • Do not make any deductions yourself for brackets or fittings—our manufacturing process accounts for those on recess (inside mount) blinds.
  • If you’re unsure, contact our customer service team for assistance.
